About Us

Clothing rail in shop.
Having previously designed for brands such as Hacket, Margaret Howell and Gieves & Hawkes, knitwear designer, Jane Forbes, opened the first Frontiers store in 1990 focussing on hard-to-find, good quality and well-made products, embracing all types of women at any age.

After many successful years on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, a move across town to the West End Village followed in 2007, and with a larger store, more emphasis was placed on developing the original concept. Footwear and accessories were added – all selected just as carefully as the clothing brands.

A further exciting chapter came about in 2015 when Jane and partner Nigel Pashley opened Frontiers Man. By introducing the same ethos into menswear, the two spacious and welcoming stores sit proudly opposite one another offering a carefully selected range of independent labels, of which many are British and exclusive to Edinburgh and Scotland.
